We are taken to the year 2045, finding out that the world as we know it has become an insufferable place. The creator of OASIS, ingenious and unconventional James Halliday (Mark Rylance), decides to leave his wealth and OASIS control to the winner of a competition that he himself designed. Eventually, a contestant emerges, a boy orphan who will set out on a mysterious and dangerous journey through the OASIS universe in a hunt for treasure.

The movie grossed over $582 million and received generally positive reviews.

4. The Meg (2018)

In the deep waters of the Pacific ocean a submarine carrying a scientific research crew is attacked by a colossal and monstrous shark which is thought to have been extinct. A Chinese oceanographer, his daughter and an expert diver will risk their lives to try and save this doomed submersible from the grip of the horrendous 75-foot-long creature.

The film was deemed a success and eventually earned more than $ 530 million worldwide.

5. Alita: Battle Angel (2019)

With the help of a resourceful friend Hugo, she will try to reveal both her lost memory and her destiny awaiting her in the perilous Iron City streets, with villainous order enforcement on her heels.

Directed by Robert Rodriguez, the movie made more than $400 million globally and thus became this director’s highest-grossing movie.
